Location
Seaham Harbour Marina (SR7 7EE) is located on the north east coast of England, 5 miles south of Sunderland and 11 miles north of Hartlepool. Driving from the north on the A19 turn off at Seaham then left through Byron's Walk via Seaton Lane, follow coast road going south 1 mile, follow signs to Seaham marina. Driving from the south on the A19 turn off at Seaham then follow the eastbound road of the A182 for 2 miles, Seaham marina sign posted.
Managing the Marina
The marina is managed by a Community Interest Company (CIC) which is a not-for-profit organisation. Its principle objective is for a sustainable development that will serve the community and aims to provide, and continually improve, facilities for maritime activities.
Management and staff include four CIC Directors, marina manager, senior administrator, operations supervisor and five marina operatives. Marina operatives are available 7 days per week and management can be contacted during office hours. The marina office is located in Unit 10 of the Waterside building on the upper floor next to the Lookout café.
Opening Times
The marina is open to the public from 9am to 5.30pm 7 days a week.
Past Developmets
Phase 1
In recent years Durham County Council has worked with Seaham Harbour Dock Company, Friends of North Dock Seaham and the local community to bring about the regeneration of Seaham North Dock.
Following the demise of the pits in the early 1990s the north dock fell into a semi derelict state. The redevelopment of the dock was one of the key objectives of the Seaham Regeneration Strategy undertaken in 1994. It was agreed the most appropriate way to bring about the restoration of north dock was to undertake a three phased approach.
In 2005 the council completed phase one of the redevelopment. This phase involved the necessary public accommodation works, restoration of the lime kilns, viewing areas and secondary sea defence improvements.

Phase 2
The second phase of the redevelopment completed in 2013, aimed to bring economic life back to the north dock, creating major improvements to support a working marina.
This included the creation of the flagship building 'The Waterside' (comprising 12 commercial units), installation of floating pontoons to accommodate 77 leisure craft, reinstatement of the dock gates, refurbished slipway and improved public access to areas of the dock.
Additional public improvements also included the partnership with East Durham Heritage Group to restore the former lifeboat house as a visitor attraction which has now become the home of the historic George Elmy lifeboat.
This redevelopment work helped to ensure Seaham Harbour Marina can offer its berth holders quality facilities alongside competitive prices. Not only that but the marina's commercial units mean it's a great family day out in the North East, with fun and educational activities to enjoy with the kids.
