There are a range of facilities at Seaham Marina for both visitors and berth holders. If you're looking for somewhere nice to spend the afternoon with friends, family or even just a wander with the dog then the marina has a number of outlets to take advantage of including shops, cafes and toilets. As a berth holder at Seaham Harbour Marina you can also benefit from top facilities including CCTV and access to electricity and water.
Our slipway is located within the main site and accessible to annual slip users at all times. We accept daily launches from 9am on any day of the week. Trailers can be parked on site. A fresh water stand pipe is located at the top of the slip and can be used for washing down and flushing.
The slipway is tidal with water on the slip 60% of the tide albeit those using 4x4 vehicles can launch and retrieve their boats at low tide from the beach below the slipway. Best to avoid spring low tides due to softer sand near the water's edge.
An annual launch fee applies to motorised boats, kayaks, canoes. sailing boats etc. PWCs can use the slipway but must be a member of Seaham Jet-ski Club where they will benefit from slipway charging reductions. Reductions also applies to Seaham Harbour Boat Club and East Durham Divers..go to organisations page. for more information.
Pontoon system during installation in 2012
Seaham Harbour Marina
The first phase of the boatyard has been completed and is now open. The area is 1,000 m2 of hard standing, enough space for about 20 boats, surrounded by a secure fence and locked access gates. A floodlight and CCTV system has been installed.
We can accept boats transported on their own trailers for maintenance and storage. Competitive boat yard charges will apply.
Later improvements may consist of two 12 metre garage type boat storage sheds for arranging "indoor" work to be carried out or for under-cover short term storage.
Ideas for the future may include our own static lifting out crane and boat transporter which will enable larger vessels to be maintained in the boatyard.
There are a total of 96 pontoon berths, at least 4 of which are berths kept for visiting vessels. We accept boats up to 11m LOA with drafts up to 1.5 metres (visiting vessels can be allocated berths up to 1.8 metres draft).
A personal fob entry system with intruder alarms are part of the pontoon access security. CCTVs monitor the pontoons and car parks.
Pontoon walkway lighting and safety equipment are situated at regular intervals.
Electric & water points are located at the entrance to the pontoon walkways. Trolleys, spare extension cables, converters and hoses are available on the pontoons. Berth holders have access to two showers/changing rooms.
There are no additional charges to resident or visitor vessels for the use of electric or water. Please see tariffs page for full list of berthing rates.
A fully automatic dock gate operates to retain depths on low tides and can be closed manually in storm conditions. The gate is open for at least 3 hours either side of high tides.
